This is the story of CK Tan, my friend of 21 years. It is my honour to place him in the limelight today (but without him knowing..) COZ he advertised me on his page recently (without me knowing)!! You can read about me here...hahahaha,  if you don't know what I am babbling about.

I knew CK (as we all called him ah tan....) since standard one. That's 21 years ago. We have been in the same class  throughout the entire our primary school days (i.e the kelas merah or the red class) FYI our school divides the classes into 5 categories of standard, i.e Merah (red), Kuning (yellow), biru (blue), hijau (green) and Ungu (purple or violet)...And Merah class is the best, followed by kuning, biru, hijau and ungu. Not entirely sure how the school work that one out?? Just by looking at the colour, you can tell which student is good mehh?????

Anyway.....

We were in the red class...a class of CLASS!!! Not only with him, but also with Cruel Angel (a.k.a Alan de Great, mistakenly known for Alexander the Great...cough...cough, QS earning big bucks in Tupai) and Esther (a.k.a Liang Moi Chiam, CEO of mobile phone chain stores) I am not sure why I am in that class..as I have no CLASS!!!! But anyway..this class of CLASS was fun!!! CK was the first few ones who talk to me. I was pretty shy and quiet...cough..cough...when I was 8. And I always sat next to him or within his vicinity. Now you know why he can "buli" me...kekeke..

But I never recollect whether Cruel Angel (a.k.a Alan de Great) is also a "victim" of "buli"...hahaha, even Cruel Angel himself is not sure!!

But I dun think Esther is; as she is a sweet girl ( As you know CK was very gentleman and never "buli" Liang Moi...)

AND...

Everytime the teacher says something about "trying new things", I will be his first guinea pig, not Cruel Angel nor Esther Liang Moi... And as you know, I was pretty quiet in class..(dare not speak up kind of person...cough...cough...what do you expect, I am only 8!!)..he will try this new "experiment" on me and poor me (as he mentioned it in his post..), I tolerated with it...but the only brave thing that I have ever did (obviously not during school, but at home...) was to relate this to my mum. And my mum will be like...."Dun worry dear, we will go together to school tomorrow and talk to him"...hahahaha...

And the story goes on.....

He knew a lot of stuff. And he always on the top of the class. I was amazed when he brought an atlas to school one day and able to recall the name of each and every country. I think this was in standard 4. And I still remember his plastic semi inflated ball..that we all used to play " volleyball" after watching "Moero ATTACK"!!. Right, Esther???? Kekeke...This was in standard 5, I think!! You can read my post about Moero ATTACK here.

So...

After 6 years studying with him and be in the same group of friends as he does, we were again in the same class during secondary school. We are even in the same Red Crescent Unit, where he remained active while I was hiding away doing something else.  I did not see him since 1997, but coincidentally met him one night during a dinner with my family 2 years back.

Eventhough CK is a "Kaki Buli"......

He remains a top student throughout his school life, I was never one.

He never goes for tuition classes, I have been to all of the classes in town.

He understands what he studies with little effort, I only knew how things work after 6 people explained it to me!

He studies chinese on his own, and is very good at it. I never understood it eventhough I went for tuition classes!!

He was the school prefect, I failed in the prefect questionnaire by not knowing who the "guru disiplin" 's name is

He obtained a scholarship, I can only dreamt of one!!

When he is no longer a "Kaki Buli".....

He is a successful engineer with much respect, I am only a lousy low class medical officer that nobody gives a shet!!

He writes a better blog that everyone subscribed to, I only started mine last week!

He has travelled to most part of the globe, I have only dreamt of travelling!

He lives a happier life, I live a very stressful life

He lives closer to his family, be a nice good boy, I lives 6500 km away from my family, and every year my mum has to ask" Are you coming back home this year?"

He celebrates chinese new year with his family, I celebrate chinese new year with my patients.

He has been to most class gatherings, I have been to none!! SHAME on me

He is already 28, I am still 27.

Before I forget, Happy Belated 28th Birthday ah Tan!!!!

Sorry no present this year....kekekeke....

Cheerios

PS: My mum never "photostat" his essay for me!! That's why I only started my blog last week!!

Hello, Dr Au. Since both u & Tan started this nostalgic series, it brings back lots of memories...
I, of cos, still remember vividly, the day ur mum came to our class & talk nicely to Atan. She even showed him ur 'red' ear! haha...
I remember, the same year, before ur 'ear incident', Atan gave us a lot of money (in coins form). At that time, I thought he's some kind of 'big brother' & the fact that he could speak malay fluently before anyone of us could manage to speak a sentence in Malay amazed me. Later on, in secondary school, we were in Auntie's schoolbus. The most memorable incident definitely goes to the fighting between Yun Mee Nyuk & Sin Wai Leam, both blissfully married now. How time flies!
